The KiwiSA EXPO is a unique celebration to explore and find unity in the shared heritage that New Zealand enjoys with South Africa.
This will coincide with the Springboks/All Blacks Test Match in Auckland on the 6th September 2025, while highlighting significant heritage links.
The Expo will engage all six main heritage sites in Thames, as well as involve local students, in researching and telling the stories of people on both sides of the defining South African War (1899-02). It will also explain how pioneering gold mining extraction processes in Thames helped rescue the early South African gold mining industry. Sir George Grey's contribution to railway and education in both countries is highlighted - even the busy job of SA dung beetles on local farms! Lots more!
The community will help facilitate opportunities to celebrate the vibrant South African and New Zealand traditional cuisines and music, at the Thames Saturday Morning Market. Venues will be open for live screening of the titan Test match that night!
Its about inter-connectivity, its about reflecting and learning from history, its about exploring, its about celebrating!
